Fall Newletter – Communities and Postal Workers United

Communities and Postal Workers United (CPWU)
– No Closures! No Cuts! No Delay of the Mail! –

“DON’T MESS WITH IB” COMMUNITY RALLIES TO SAVE POST OFFICE
As part of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s “Delivering for America” plan, “spoke” post offices are being emptied of their letter carriers, who then sort and deliver the mail out of large hubs, called Sorting and Delivery Centers (S&DC). Although the USPS denies that post offices will be closed as a result of the displacement of letter carriers, the community and postal work- ers of Imperial Beach know better. (The first known closure due to the establishment of an S&DC is happening in Topeka, Kansas. The USPS calls it a “relocation” and claims the Sher- wood Carrier Annex is not really a post office but an “annex”)
