Scholarships Are Available For Your Family

The deadline to apply for the E.C Hallbeck Memorial Scholarship, Vocational Scholarship, and Best Essay Award has been extended until June 30, 2024. This scholarship is for any children, grandchildren, or stepchildren of a current, retired, or deceased APWU member who are seniors in high school.  

Scholarships are available for both college tuition and vocational schooling! 

More details: 

*  The E.C. Hallbeck Memorial Scholarship grants 10 students $2,000 annually for four years for undergraduate studies.
*  Vocational Scholarships offer up to $3,000 for three years at a trade, technical, industrial, or vocational school for 5 students.
*  One “Best Essay” winner receives a one-time $2,000 award for four-year college tuition.

Extension of Annual Leave Carry Over and Exchange for Leave Year 2025

Union Family,
Please see the attached MOUs I signed today to continue the higher levels of the Annual Leave Carryover and Annual Leave Exchange for the four groups represented by the APWU (APWU-Main Agreement, IT-AS, HRSSC, NPPN).
For leave year 2025 (Begins January 11, 1015 and ends January 9, 2026), employees represented under these contracts are entitled to carryover 520 hours of earned annual leave. Also, those employees who meet the exchange requirements can continue to exchange 80 hours of annual leave prior to the beginning of leave year 2026.
Each file attached has two pages—one is the carryover MOU, and the other one is the exchange MOU.

RELEASE: OPM Releases List of Conditionally Approved Postal Service Health Benefits Program Carrier Applicants for New Centralized System.
Postal Services Health Benefits Program Will Provide a Customer Friendly System Covering Nearly Two Million USPS Employees, Annuitants, and Family Members.
Washington, D.C. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) released a list of conditionally approved carrier applicants today to participate in OPM’s new Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) Program for U.S. Postal Employees and their families. The Postal Service Reform Act of 2022 requires that OPM establish this new health care program, which will provide coverage for 1.9 million employees, annuitants, and their eligible family members beginning January 1, 2025.
