Postal Service On Track And Targeted For Privatization
Various news outlets are reporting that the principal behind DOGE is pointing a crooked finger at both Amtrak and the US Postal Service.
This revelation comes on the heels of a Equity Report issued by Wells Fargo to their investors on the “positive optionality to UPS and FedEx to reorganize the Postal Service to a private entity (i.e., a privatized USPS).
Amtrak is a federal corporation, somewhat similar to USPS, and just like USPS was established in 1970 through Congressional action. Amtrak, however, is a for profit corporation intended to salvage the railroads with intercity service in only 46 states. While USPS re-established the Post Office Department and is a self sustaining quasi government enterprise with an obligation to provide universal mail service to the entire nation and 167 million addresses Monday to Saturday (and often on Sundays too).
