“DON’T MESS WITH IB” COMMUNITY RALLIES TO SAVE POST OFFICE
As part of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s “Delivering for America” plan, “spoke” post offices are being emptied of their letter carriers, who then sort and deliver the mail out of large hubs, called Sorting and Delivery Centers (S&DC). Although the USPS denies that post offices will be closed as a result of the displacement of letter carriers, the community and postal work- ers of Imperial Beach know better. (The first known closure due to the establishment of an S&DC is happening in Topeka, Kansas. The USPS calls it a “relocation” and claims the Sher- wood Carrier Annex is not really a post office but an “annex”)

Postal Support Employees now eligible for dental and vision benefits (FEDVIP)
There’s some exciting news for PSEs. Postal Support Employees are now eligible for the Federal Employee Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). The program includes comprehensive dental and vision benefits for employees who choose self, self plus one, and self and family coverage.
Enrollment is open now through September 24 – so don’t wait. After that, you’ll only be able to enroll during the annual “open season” or withing 60 days of a qualifying life event.

COLA For Employees Covered by the National Agreement
In July, the final month of the six-month adjustment period for the fourth COLA under the 2021 Agreement, the CPI-W Unadjusted Index (1967=100) rose to 893.309, an increase over the January 2023 index point upon which employees received the last COLA.
As a result of the rise in index level, the following COLA adjustment will be applied to each step of the basic annual salary for all full-time employees covered under the 2021-2024 Collective Bargaining Agreement effective August 26, 2023 (pay period 19-2023, pay date September 15, 2023). All part time career employees will have their hourly rates adjusted accordingly. Based on the July 2023 Index, the adjustment will be:
